Studio Pierrot announces Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly, a new magical girl series
Legendary production company Pierrot has revealed an original anime titled Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly, which will begin airing in April 2026. Produced by Pierrot and Bandai Namco Filmworks, this series marks Pierrot’s return to the “magical girl” genre after 1980s classics such as Creamy Mami, the Little Mermaid.

Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly tells the story of Fu and Rui Nonoyama: two sisters who, after growing emotionally distant, obtain magical powers to transform themselves into the adult idols they most admire. The plot proposes that both lead secret lives as idols, under strict rules (the magic only lasts for one year and must never be revealed publicly). Pierrot highlights that this story mixes themes of sisterhood and idol music with classic magical girl fantasy, designed to thrill audiences of all ages.
This announcement coincides with the 40th anniversary of Creamy Mami (1983-84), the series that started the “magical girls” tradition at Pierrot, adding nostalgic value to the project. LuluttoLilly promises to be a fresh new addition to Pierrot’s magical legacy, with an original plot that draws on the production company’s experience in the genre.
