Blue Lock Season 3: Production confirmed after the end of the second season

Just minutes after the broadcast of the last episode of the second season, the official Blue Lock website confirmed that production of a third season is already underway. The announcement was accompanied by an image of Isagi Yoichi with a look of absolute determination.

The second season, which covered the Japan U-20 National Team arc, was a massive success, boosting manga sales to historic levels. Studio 8bit will return as the animation studio. Although no exact date has been given, the premiere is expected to take place in early 2027.
Technical details:

  • Publisher: Kodansha.
  • Publication start date: August 2018.
  • Studio: 8bit.
  • Synopsis: Following Japan’s failure at the World Cup, a project is created to train the most selfish and capable striker in the world: Blue Lock. 300 young people compete to be the chosen one, eliminating their rivals in the process.
Blue Lock has redefined spokon (sports anime) by replacing the value of “teamwork” with that of “individual selfishness.” It is currently the most profitable sports franchise, and its continuation was an open secret.
