Chainsaw Man and other anime nominated for the 2026 Annie Awards

The film Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc, the series DAN DAN, and the film Scarlet received nominations in the main categories of the 2026 Annie Awards (to be held on February 21). Scarlet, directed by Mamoru Hosoda, leads the anime representation with three major nominations (Best Independent Feature Film, Screenplay, and Direction). Meanwhile, the first Chainsaw Man feature film was nominated for Best Film Direction (director Tatsuya Yoshihara), and the DAN DAN series for Best TV/Media Direction for its episode “Clash! Space Kaiju vs. Giant Robot!”.

In addition, other animated productions stood out on the list of nominees. The children’s franchise My Melody & Kuromi will compete for Best Children’s TV/Media Series, and an episode of Star Wars: Visions (“BLACK”) earned recognition in the miniseries and special effects categories. Even the video game branch had award-winning animation: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – The Animation was nominated for Best Sponsored Production, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for Best Video Game Character Animation. All winners will be announced during the 53rd Annie Awards, reinforcing the importance of this event for global animation.
