Why Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a must-see anime

Mushoku Tensei is an isekai anime that stands out for its mature storytelling and the profound evolution of its protagonist. It tells the story of a 34-year-old otaku who is reincarnated in a medieval fantasy world as Rudeus Greyrat, deciding to make the most of this second chance. Although the beginning may be reminiscent of other isekai, critics point out that “there’s no denying that the anime is very good and that we should give it a chance.”

The series became popular for its unique format within the isekai genre. Unlike other omnipotent protagonists, Rudeus must work hard to obtain his abilities and faces past traumas that force him to mature. The animation, by studio Bind, was praised for its consistent quality and colorful palette, achieving fluid scenes without neglecting details. In addition, it has an excellent OST that reinforces its fantasy atmosphere.
Based on the light novels by Rifujin na Magonote (published by MF Books since 2014), the anime is produced by Studio Bind under the direction of Manabu Okamoto. The main cast of seiyuus includes Yumi Uchiyama (child voice of Rudeus), Tomokazu Sugita (adult Rudeus), Konomi Kohara (Roxy), Ai Kayano (Sylphie), and Ai Kakuma (Eris). The anime premiered in January 2021.

Ultimately, Mushoku Tensei shines for its almost educational approach to the development of the central character and its high production value. Its recommendation is based on its humanity and how it breaks genre clichés. Although its protagonist has questionable flaws, the series invites the viewer to give the character a second chance and enjoy a well-crafted fantasy drama.
