Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is a magical spin-off of the Fate saga. The plot begins when Illyasviel von Einzbern, a normal elementary school girl, is chosen by a magic wand named Ruby to become a magical girl. Her mission is to collect seven special cards containing heroic spirits (the “Class Cards”). As the series progresses, Illya experiences fun and action-packed magical adventures, accompanied by her friend Miyu.


Despite being part of the Fate universe, Prisma Illya has a more cheerful and flirty tone. The anime combines magical battles with moments of comedy and an underlying romantic element. It originally aired in 2013–2014 and was praised for its colorful animation and charismatic protagonists. The animated series was produced by Silver Link under the direction of Shin Ōnuma and other co-directors, premiering on July 13, 2013.


The Prisma Illya manga, written by Hiroshi Hiroyama, has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace magazine since September 2007. The voice cast includes Mai Kadowaki as Illya and Kana Ueda as Rin Tohsaka, with Shizuka Itō playing Luvia. The original series consisted of 10 episodes in its first season.
